The sky was gray from cloud cover and the wind was chill, a reminder that fall was near at hand. Cool though it was Bianca refused to close her window for she was convinced that her lover Ramesses would return threw it. Ever since he had visited her two weeks before she had waited for him everyday and night in the same spot hoping against all odds that he cared enough to return to her. At first, it had been easy for her to act as though nothing was bothering her, then after the sixth day she had found it too painful to leave her apartment. She needed him, her vampire lover; the need of him was a physical pain.

"Ramesses." she whispered; his name was both bliss and torture for her at the same time.

She was exhausted in every sense of the word but it did no good to sleep because she always dreamed of him and it was getting more and more painful to wake up and accept that it had only been a dream. She would cry but she had already wept and all that remained was a dry despair. Climbing out of her chair and going to the window, she leaned out starring at the sky.

"Ramesses..." she whispered knowing, deep in her heart, that he could hear her "Please come back. If you do not then...I will go to sleep and never wake up. Because at least you're in my dreams."

Returning inside she lay down in bed praying to whatever gods existed that her lover would return. Exhausted as she was sleep came easy and with it came the beautiful dreams. Dreams of her vampire lover, the pharaoh of ancient Egypt. Dreams of his silky black hair and his hot kisses. Dreams of the night they spent together feeling his cold hard skin press against her own hot soft body. She drifted from sleep into awareness and she began to despair when she felt cool hands stroke her face, heard a soft voice singing gently to her, and when she looked up it was into the face of her love, Ramesses, who simply stared at her with love etched into his face.

"I have returned to you my love." he whispered in his strong warm voice.

Relief hit her then with all the force of an avalanche and Bianca launched herself into his arms, sobbing deeply into his chest. This was no dream this was real. He had come back to her. He loved her.
He held her close and cradled her head into his chest stroking her hair.

"I did not mean to make you cry my love, never that. Shh, I am here now all is well." he whispered into her hair, his voice nearly breaking.
Lifting her head and looking him in his golden brown eyes Bianca, tears still glistening in her own beautiful sea-green eyes, asked the question that burned within her heart.

"Why did you wait so long before returning?" her voice barely steady she gave him no time to reply before speaking again "I missed you. I needed you!!" she shouted tears leaking from her eyes once again "I love you." she said, then she kissed him letting all of her emotion all of her anger, her fear, and most of all her love out into that kiss. And Ramesses kissed her back letting her know that she was always the for-front of his thoughts the whole time he had been gone. It was with regret that she pulled away, her breathing heavy, for though she longed for him she needed the truth. She had questions for him and she would not be denied.

"Where have you been? Why did you leave me for so long?" she asked

Ramesses would have preferred to talk about this later, but he could tell that she was determined and he knew that he owed her the truth.

"I have been cleaning out our city of vermin." he answered

"What vermin?" she asked though for she could not imagine that he was cleaning rats out of the sewers.

"Others of my kind. You look surprised."  he said for the shock was clear on her face "Surely you did not think I was the only one of my kind my love."

"There were vampires her? In Florence?" she asked,

"There are vampires in every major city in the world. Admittedly there are fewer in Florence then in others but still there are a large number." said Ramesses

"How many of them are there?" Bianca asked,

"There were two hundred of them. But, aside from a few close friends whom I spared, they are no more." he replied,

"You killed them? All of them? Why?" she asked

"For you of coarse my love. Mostly they were rogue newborns, some barely in there fiftieth year. They were quite dangerous, like wounded animals most of the time, and some would have harmed you merely to wound me. I would never allow such trash to even touch you." he told her

She was amazed. Not only did he love her but also he loved her enough for her to kill nearly two hundred vampires, just to keep her safe. 'How have I yearned such devotion?' she thought to herself.

"Weren't you in danger? What if they had gotten into a large group?" she asked terrified at the mere idea of her lover being harmed. He smiled at her as though she were a scared child, and she had to admit to herself that for one as old as him she seem a like a child.

"I am three thousand-two hundred and eighty years old, and the first of my kind. Such vermin was of no threat to me." he answered with no small amount of pride in his voice. Bianca could only stare. She could not fathom how so ancient a being could love her so much and she could not get rid of the feeling that they had met before that first night.

"Why do you care so much about me? You say you love me, and I believe you, but...Why?" she asked rather lamely. He stared at her for a long time as though trying to decide what to say to her before finally

"I have watched over you every day since you were six years old."
Well here's the next part. I know no erotic parts this time, but that's not what this chapter is about. Though next time.....
